Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Carolyn Quinn Horton and the son of the late Lambert D. Horton and Esther McCraw Horton. Mr. Horton was retired from Duke Power Company, a U. S. Army veteran, a member of American Legion Post 262 and attended Moores Chapel United Methodist Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Barbara Crimminger and husband, Bruce of Marietta, GA, Jane McQuay and husband, Johnny of Charlotte, NC and Angela Holder and husband, Frank of Concord, NC; a brother, Thomas Lamont Horton of Gaffney; a sister, Ouida Meredith of Gaffney; eight grandchildren, Jill McQuay, Jamie Brooks and husband, Jason, Ryan Crimminger and wife, Melissa, Katie Holder, Krissie Holder, Kelsie Holder, Kellie Holder and Robbie Holder; three great-grandchildren, Jacob Brooks, Jordon Brooks, and Gavin Crimminger; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Winford R. Horton, Sr., Dewain Horton, Rayford Horton and Marshall Horton and two sisters, Ozellian "Boot" Elmore and Ruby Horton. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Friday, April 16, 2010 at Moores Chapel United Methodist Church, 10601 Moores Chapel Road, Charlotte, NC 28214. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 17, 2010 in the Grassy Pond Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. David Aldridge officiating. Memorials may be made to Moores Chapel United Methodist Church, 10601 Moores Chapel Road, Charlotte, NC 28214 or Grassy Pond Baptist Church "Cemetery Fund", 254 Grassy Pond Road, Gaffney, SC 29341.
