Boneta was born on September 22, 1932, on the family farm southwest of Battle Creek, the daughter of Everette and Ida O. (Groninger) Tiedgen. Boneta attended rural school before graduating from Battle Creek High School in 1949. She went on to graduate from the Norfolk Business College. Boneta was born on September 22, 1932, on the family farm southwest of Battle Creek, the daughter of Everette and Ida O. (Groninger) Tiedgen. Boneta attended rural school before graduating from Battle Creek High School in 1949. She went on to graduate from the Norfolk Business College. On September 8, 1952, Boneta married Layne Flanagan in Yankton, SD. The couple made their home in the Battle Creek area. She had been employed at Norfolk Farm Equipment. Later, in 1966, Boneta began working as a secretary for BC Builders. She retired after 40 years. Boneta enjoyed reading, gardening and camping. However, her passion was for her family. She was the primary care giver for her mother, Ida. She was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church. Boneta served on the Union Cemetery Board. She was a strong supporter of the Battle Creek Library. Boneta was a faithful blood donator. Boneta is survived by her husband of 59 years, Layne Flanagan; children and their spouses—Michael and Kathleen Flanagan, of Carson City, NV, Mitch and Ruth Flanagan, of Boise, ID, and John and Vicki Flanagan, of Norfolk; four grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; brother and his wife, Richard and JoAnn Tiedgen, of Norfolk. Boneta is preceded by:parents. Burial was in the Union Cemetery, Battle Creek, NE.
