They preceded her in death. She married Wilbur Sauerwein on March 22, 1948, in Newton. He survives of the home. Bonnie was an active member of the First United Church of Christ in Newton. She worked for the Newton Housing Authority at Midtown Towers for 12 years. She married Wilbur Sauerwein on March 22, 1948, in Newton. He survives of the home. Bonnie was an active member of the First United Church of Christ in Newton. She worked for the Newton Housing Authority at Midtown Towers for 12 years. She was a member of the board of directors for both the Newton Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) and the Newton Senior Center. She also was a member of the Merry Matrons Extension Homemaker Unit and a 4-H leader for nearly 30 years. Bonnie enjoyed crocheting and made afghans for all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She greatly enjoyed living on the farm where she could garden and care for her farm cats. Bonnie looked forward to spending time with her loving family and many friends she made on her life's journey. Other survivors include three sons, Donald and Charlotte Sauerwein of Newton, Charles and Carolyn Sauerwein of Cimarron and Mark and Teresa Sauerwein of Newton; two daughters, Janet and Larry Matschull of Midland, Texas, and Denise and Jim Sullivan of Leavenworth; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Don Reaugh and Vern Reaugh. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First United Church of Christ in Newton, with the Rev. Bill Hickerson of the church officiating. Burial will be at Walton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Newton Area Senior Center or the church in care of Petersen Funeral Home in Newton.
