She was the eldest of the family of eight children, two of whom are still living in Germany and two sisters are living in chicago. she was married to J.H. Carstensen April 8, 1866. To this union were born seven children, two of whom died in infancy. She is survived by the following children: Henry Carstensen of Clarence; Thomas Carstensen of Oxford Junction; August C. Carstensen and Mrs. P.S. Jansen of Wyoming, and Mrs. P.M. Frederichsen of Center Junction. she is also survived by 25 grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Carstensen emigrated from Germany to the United States in 1892, and settled on a farm in the vicinity of Wyoming. They retired from active work in 1902. Mr. Carstensen died December 7, 1907, and after his death, Mrs. Carstensen made her home with her children. All of her children and her two sisters from Chicago were present at the funeral, which was held at the P.S. Hansen home on the afternoon of Monday, February 14th. The services were conducted by Rev. A.S. Bowder, the pastor of the Wyoming Methodist Episcopal church.
