Description	:	Parents: William Stanley and Cecile Katheran (Heer) Bowen. He grew up in Nebraska except for 1933 to 1935 in Oskaloosa, MO. Graduated in 1941 from Table Rock, High School. Worked for the United Airlines in Cheyenne, WY. until his was to be drafted and then he returned home and enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After devoting some time in pilot raining. Boyd got out and was drafted back into the Navy where he became a radio gunner pilot on a dive bomber aboard the aircraft carrier #20, "The Bennington." He married Dec. 8, 1945 in Seneca, KS. to Lois Gottula they had 2 children, Douglas and Teresa. Boyd had many jobs in his lifetime, heavy contruction, farming, was with the Soil Conservation Dist., drove trucks, he and his wife managed the Legion Club, and finished his working days with 16 years as a rural letter carrier. Boyd died at the Colonial Acres Nursing Home in Humboldt at the age of 84 years, seven months, and 7 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Lois, a brother John Bowen, and his sister Shrley Paulson. Survived by son, Douglas Gene Bowen of Riverside, CA.; daughter Teresa Gale Slama of Lincoln; 2 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren Funeral Services held Aug. 3, 2007 at Faith Lutheran Church in Humboldt,NE. Interment followed at the Humboldt Cemetery with military honors.
