A former employee of Ottumwa Brick and Tile Co., he was a Navy veteran of World War II. Survivors: a son, Robert B. of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Barbara Robinson of Fort Worth, Texas; three grandchildren; a brother, Merle of Denver; and sisters Esther Murphy and Clela Brown of Ottumwa, Frances Johnson of Dallas, Texas, and Pauline Conger of Des Moines.
