Brad was born on February 1, 1933 in Kansas City, MO, the son of Joseph Sinclair and Anna Wilhemina (Petersen) Carswell. He graduated from Boone High School in 1951. Read More	Bradford Joseph Carswell, age 81, of Boone, passed away Friday, March 14, 2014 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Brad was born on February 1, 1933 in Kansas City, MO, the son of Joseph Sinclair and Anna Wilhemina (Petersen) Carswell. He graduated from Boone High School in 1951. After graduating from Boone Jr. College, Brad served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1954. Brad married Martha Jane Minson on February 13, 1954, in Boone. They just celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary together with their family. As a young man, Brad worked with his father at Carswell Motors in Boone. Then he worked with Boone Construction and D. Klute Construction as a carpenter, later becoming self employed and ultimately retiring as a union carpenter (Local 106 DM). Some of the more notable projects he was involved with include CY Stephens, Hilton Coliseum, Gateway Hotel, National Disease Lab, and 801 Grand. Most importantly, Brad built the two homes where he and Martha raised their family. Brad loved spending time with his friends and family. He passed along his talents and his natural ability to work with his hands to his children. The farm they purchased has been a source of memories for his family and their friends. The families enjoy camping, hunting and hiking the pastureland. Brad was able to demonstrate his love for animals on this farm nurturing livestock for approximately 10 years. His parents precede him in death. He is survived by his wife Martha Carswell of Boone; his son Jeff Carswell (Linda) of Boone, his son John Carswell (Nyla) of Boone; his daughter Anne Marie Bushore (Jim) of Madrid; his son Joe Carswell (Angie) of Boone: 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
