Description	:	Bradley Gene, son of Glenn and Marian Katherine (Frank) Hilgenberg, was born August 15, 1959, at Manning in Carroll County, Iowa. He attended school in Bayard, graduating with the Bayard High School class of 1977. After graduation Brad enlisted with the United States Air Force and specialized in telecommunications. On April 22, 1981, Brad was united in marriage with Unsong "Shina" Shin at Seoul, Korea. Three children were born to this union. Read More	Bradley Gene, son of Glenn and Marian Katherine (Frank) Hilgenberg, was born August 15, 1959, at Manning in Carroll County, Iowa. He attended school in Bayard, graduating with the Bayard High School class of 1977. After graduation Brad enlisted with the United States Air Force and specialized in telecommunications. On April 22, 1981, Brad was united in marriage with Unsong "Shina" Shin at Seoul, Korea. Three children were born to this union. Brad and Shina lived in Virginia, Japan, Kansas, Germany, California, Korea and Florida. Following 23 years of service and attaining the rank of Senior Master Sergeant, Brad retired from the Air Force on June 1, 2001. Brad then returned to Iowa and worked as the Manager of Field Operations at McLeod USA in Des Moines. Brad was a member of the Wire Dawgs, and enjoyed volunteering his time as a youth baseball coach and with the Special Olympics. He liked to hunt, fish, golf, play softball, work out and spend time with his children. On Wednesday, February 6, 2002, Brad suffered a massive heart attack while working out and died shortly thereafter at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa, at the age of 42 years, 6 months, and 5 days. Brad is preceded in death by his father Glenn Hilgenberg in 1995. He is survived by his wife Shina Hilgenberg of Des Moines; three children: Matthew, Natasha and Brenden Hilgenberg of Des Moines; mother Marian Hilgenberg of Coon Rapids; brothers and sisters: Sherry and her husband Gary Mozena of Bayard; Steve Hilgenberg and his wife Lori of Bayard; Bryan Hilgenberg and his wife Zavette of Coon Rapids; Craig Hilgenberg and his wife Jacque of Cedar Rapids; and Cindy and her husband Brad Harrison of Adel; numerous nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles; other relatives and friends.
