Description	:	Brenda was born on September 1, 1941, in Odessa, WA to Theodore and Francis Eckhardt. She passed away on January 4, 2022, from complications of Rheumatoid Arthritis. She had battled this terrible disease for over 50 years without ever complaining. Her great faith in God carried her through many difficult times in her life. Read More	Brenda was born on September 1, 1941, in Odessa, WA to Theodore and Francis Eckhardt. She passed away on January 4, 2022, from complications of Rheumatoid Arthritis. She had battled this terrible disease for over 50 years without ever complaining. Her great faith in God carried her through many difficult times in her life. After graduating from Odessa High School in 1959, Brenda moved to Spokane where she attended Kelsey-Baird Secretarial School and Spokane Technical and Vocational School (now SCC). She was employed at Hamilton Mailing and Printing and then in the credit department at Sears until 1965, Brenda married Gary (Billy) Horak on January 18, 1964, in Odessa, WA. She was a wonderful homemaker and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a talented seamstress and crocheter. Many family and friends received her beautifully crocheted afghan blankets, baby blankets, and angel Christmas tree toppers. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Parish for over 50 years, She enjoyed gardening and reading legal thrillers. She also liked to watch the Seattle Mariners, the Seattle Seahawks, and the Gonzaga basketball games. Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, infant son Robert (Bobby), brother Paul, sister Anita (Leland), and daughter Connie. She is survived by her husband Gary, sisters Sylvia (Ed) and Elaine (Dick), daughter Barbara (Herb), son Brian (Shori), son-in-law Aki, and grandchildren Tiffany, Hilarey, Grant, Peter, and Lydia. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 22, 2022, at 11 am at Assumption Catholic Parish, 3624 W. Indian Trail Rd., Spokane, WA. Luncheon reception to follow. Interment will take place on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at 1 pm at the Odessa, WA cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Catholic Charities Eastern Washington or the Odessa City Cemetery. Published by Spokesman-Review on Apr. 17, 2022.
