Born in Havelock, N.C., she was the widow of the late Joe Oliver Stanford, Sr. and was the daughter of the late George Sidney May and Viola Nethercutt May. Mrs. Stanford was the former owner/operator of Knee High Jungle Daycare, loved all children, loved baking, and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. Read More	Gaffney, S.C. - Brenda May Stanford, 66, formerly of 209 Lockhart Lane, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born in Havelock, N.C., she was the widow of the late Joe Oliver Stanford, Sr. and was the daughter of the late George Sidney May and Viola Nethercutt May. Mrs. Stanford was the former owner/operator of Knee High Jungle Daycare, loved all children, loved baking, and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. Surviving are three sons, Kevin Stanford, Joe Stanford, Jr. and Robert Stanford and wife, Lorie, all of Gaffney; two brothers, Bud May of Kinston, N.C. and George May and wife, Jereatta, of Missouri; one sister, Jennifer Scales of Newburn, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Haley Stanford, Heather White and husband, Luke, Katie Stanford, Joseph Stanford, Sidney Stanford, Darian Stanford and Madison Galloway; a great-grandchild, Ava White. She was preceded in death by a brother, Ricky May and a sister, Deanna Wilson. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 13, 2013 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Osment officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to: Cherokee County Children's Home, P.O. Box 1896, Gaffney, S.C. 29342 or St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 Jude Place, Memphis, Tn. 38105-1905.
