Description	:	Funeral services for Brent Skalberg, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leland Skalberg of Orchard, were held Monday at 2:00 p.m. in the United Brethren Church in Orchard. Rev. Duane Lenz was the officiating pastor and hymns were sung by Leo Miller, Walter Miller, Archie Johnson, and Wendell Switzer. In charge of flowers were Mrs. Fred Deterville, Mrs. E. West, Mrs. Eloit Blackmore, and Mrs. Vern Munger. Pall bearers were Vern Munger, Fred Deterville, Jerry Maple, and Wayne Henderson. Burial was made in the Orchard Cemetery. Brent Lane Skalberg was born October 29, 1951 at Orchard hospital, the twin son of Mr. and Mrs. Leland A. Skalberg. He departed this life at the age of 8 years, 4 months, and 10 days at his home in Orchard on March 11, 1960. He died of cancer. Brent became ill November 27 and was taken to St. Joseph’s hospital in Sioux City December 1st. He was dismissed December 21, 1959, went to Plainview hospital December 28 and returned again to St. Josph hospital December 31. He came home January 30, where Mr. and Mrs. Skalberg cared for him. He was baptized December 16, 1951 in E. U. B. Church by Rev. Walter Millett. He was in the second grade at school and rated as a top student in all his work. He attended Sunday School and church regularly. Brent was thoughtful at all times, especially of others; he was unselfish and very thrifty. His greatest attribute was obedience. He never complained at any time. Brent’s greatest desire was to be home for Christmas and to go to his maternal and paternal grandparents homes for Christmas. His desire was granted. Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leland Skalberg, one brother, David, and his twin sister, Brenda, all of Orchard; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Bengtson; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Thompson, all of Wausa, besides many other relatives and a host of friends. Was relatives who attended the services were Mr. and Mrs. Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. Bengtson and Jean, Mr. and Mrs. Albin W. Anderson and family, Mr. and Mrs. Don Skalberg and Donna, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Larson, Mr. and Mrs. Don Banks, Mrs. Elmer Peterson, and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Carlson and family.
