Bradley, a resident of Ulysses for many years; passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Anna Woods, of Lincoln, on Monday morning, October 21, after an illness of several months. Bridget McCoy was born at Walnut, Bureau Co., Ill., on October 31, 1860. There she spent her girlhood days and was married to Alexander Bradley by the Rev. Father Lyons. In 1885 they came to Nebraska and started farming west of Seward, moving to Ulysses in 1895. Eight children were born to them, two of whom passed away in Ulysses, Frances and William. Her husband also passed away several years ago, and since then Mrs. Bradley spent much of her time caring for the sick. She was a devout Catholic, a loving wife and mother, a good neighbor and a true friend of those who were sick and in distress. Besides Mrs. Woods, she leaves Lawrence of Ulysses, Mrs. Mary McBride of Gresham, Mrs. Agnes Prochaska of Dwight, Steve of LeMars, Iowa, and Mrs. Ellen Turner of Lincoln. Also 22 grandchildren, a sister, Sadie Lavey, and several nieces and nephews. During her last illness her children were all with her and as they knelt in prayer she passed to the Great Beyond, where Jesus rewards even a cup of cold water given in His Name. Steve was unable to be present at the funeral, being ill himself, but he had made a special trip to see his mother a short time ago. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Father Downey at the Ulysses Catholic Church on Wednesday, October 23. Interment was in the Catholic cemetery by the side of her husband and sons. The pallbearers were Charles Smith, George Walsh, Jake Klein, William Gannon, Emil Prochaska, and John McGowen. Those who came from a distance to attend the funeral were a niece, Mrs. Nellie Schneberger and granddaughter Joan of Broken Bow; Leo Gorman of Seward; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Schneberger and family of Goehner; Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Schenberger of Seward; Mrs. Considine; Mrs. Jake Smith; Mrs. Lawrence Kearney and Dan Powers of David City; Mr. and Mrs. Gold Welty of Gersham; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer McBride, of York; James McGowen and Mr. and Mrs. Touer of Schuyler; Mrs. Fender and Mrs. Radford of Seward; a grand-niece, Mrs. Kermit Bumgardner, of York and Miss Ada Day of Staplehurst.
