Funeral services for Mrs. George Aleven, who passed away Sunday, Feb. 1, at 10 a.m., at her home 4 ½ miles west of David City, after illness of 12 weeks with liver trouble, were held in St. Mary's Catholic church, David City, at 9:30 o'clock Tuesday morning, Feb. 3, Rev. Father Wageman in charge of Requiem High Mass. Singing was by the children's choir of St. Mary's school. The pallbearers were David Flynn, Thomas Flynn, Jr., Michael Flynn, Daniel Keefe, Gene Keefe and John J. Keefe, Jr. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery. Those in attendance at the funeral from elsewhere were Daniel and John Powers of Ulysses and John and Nora Kaveney of Linwood. Mrs. Aleven was in her 44th year. She was born in Illinois in November, 1885, and came to Nebraska and Butler county in 1887. Her maiden name was Bridget Isminger. Left an orphan at the age of three years, she was taken into the home of her uncle and aunt, the late Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Keefe, and was reared by them as one of their own children. She was married in 1915 to George Aleven, who survives her as do also two daughters, Mary and Alice, and two cousins, Mrs. Thomas Flynn and J. J. Keefe.
