Carmel Church at Lawler, Iowa Miss Bridget Lyons, one of the long time residents of Lawler, passed away Friday, January 19, 1934, at the age of 74 years. Miss Lyons had been in failing health for a considerable time. Her decline was quite rapid the past few weeks. She bore her suffering with Christian fortitude, sustained by an unwavering faith, and when the final moment came she was ready for the call to a new life beyond the grave. She was born at Lawler, Iowa, September 22, 1858, the daughter of Patrick and Anna Lyons. Most of her life was spent on the farm until seven years ago when she moved with her sister, Sarah, into the town of Lawler. The deceased was a devout member of the Catholic Church and was loyal to its teachings. She was also a member of the Rosary Society. She is survived by one brother, Dan Lyons, of Lawler, and five sisters, Sarah, Kate, and Anna Lyons and Mrs. Matilda Sheridan, all of Lawler, and Mrs. Mary Malloy of New Hampton, Iowa. Funeral services were held from Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, on Monday, read by the pastor, Rev. J. J. O'Donnell. Interment was made at St. Rose cemetery. The pall bearers were: Joe, John, and Dan Sheridan, and John and James Malloy. Sympathy is extended to her brothers, and sisters and other relatives. Contributor: Jeanette Johnson (48278241)
