Griggs, as the Methodist Church, Fairmount, with Rev. David Knecht officiating. Pallbearers were H.R. Swanson, C. R. Swanson, Raymond Anderson, Chas. Thompson, John VonBokern, and Rollie Allen. The body was at the Vertin Chapel in Breckenridge from Friday until Saturday morning as Jos. Vertin and Sons Funeral Home in Breckenridge were in charge of arrangements. Interment was in Southside Cemetery at Fairmount. Mr. Griggs, 80, died Wednesday afternoon, October 13, at the St. Francis Hospital at Breckenridge, where he had been a patient since October 6. Mr. Griggs had been in poor health the past eight years. He was born March 21, 1874 in Toledo, Ohio. He was married on July 18, 1908 to Magdalene Heil at Aberdeen, S. Dak. After their marriage, they lived in Aberdeen, S. Dak., until 1914 when they moved to Fairmount, where they have lived ever since. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. B. Griggs of Fairmount; five sons, Louis Griggs of Fairmount, Gordon Griggs of St. Paul, Duane Griggs of Minneapolis, Raymond Griggs of N. Sacramento, California, Rolland Griggs of Fortuna, N. Dak; three daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Leone) Carney of Breckenridge, Mrs. Ralph (Emaline) Gelle of Breckenridge, and Mrs. C. (Myrtle) Gollnick of New Effington, S. Dak. All of the children were present for the funeral except a son, Raymond Griggs, of N. Sacramento, California, who was unable to be present.
