Mr. Able was born in Wagner, SC, April 12, 1919, a son of the late Newton and Nora Ward Able. He was retired from Chicago Bridge and Iron Co. and was a veteran of the US Army having served during World War II. He was... Read More	UNION, SC Mr. Broadus Able, age 91, widower of Mary Fowler Able, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2011, at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson. Mr. Able was born in Wagner, SC, April 12, 1919, a son of the late Newton and Nora Ward Able. He was retired from Chicago Bridge and Iron Co. and was a veteran of the US Army having served during World War II. Mr. Able was a member of the Union Masonic Lodge #75, the Union York Rites Bodies, the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, the Greenville Masonic Lodge of Perfection and was a Shriner International. He was also a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Delores A. Whitehead and husband Bryon of Easley; a son, William T. Finucan of Greenville; two grandsons, Jason Whitehead and wife Danielle of Summerville and Jonathan Whitehead and wife Jaclyn of Simpsonville; one granddaughter, Shannon Simmerman and husband Kevin of Gray Court; and great-grandchildren, Ellie, Mary Maxwell and Clara Whitehead, Jacob and Samantha Whitehead, Brayden and Jake Simmerman. Mr. Able was predeceased by a great-grandson, Jack Whitehead; two sisters, Vallie Scott, Vera Mundy; and one brother, Newton H. Able. Funeral services will be held 4:00 PM Sunday, March 6, 2011, at Tabernacle Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Robert Chapman. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery. The S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home, Inc.
