Butler Road, Greenville, a former resident of Union, widower of Will Lena Kirby, died Tuesday, June 1, 2004, at 10:34 p.m. in National Health Care of Mauldin. Mr. Kirby was born in Union on June 3, 1923, a son of the late Broadus E. Kirby Sr., and Mamie Elizabeth Jolly Kirby. Read More	Broadus Eugene "Coonie" Kirby Jr., 80, of 850 E. Butler Road, Greenville, a former resident of Union, widower of Will Lena Kirby, died Tuesday, June 1, 2004, at 10:34 p.m. in National Health Care of Mauldin. Mr. Kirby was born in Union on June 3, 1923, a son of the late Broadus E. Kirby Sr., and Mamie Elizabeth Jolly Kirby. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where he served as church treasurer for 25 years and was a charter member of the Union High School Booster Club. Mr. Kirby was a graduate of Union High School and a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Air Force. He served as auditor of Union County for 30 years. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Rick Jeffcoat of Simpsonville; a daughter-in-law, Becky Kirby of Simpsonville; five grandchildren, Jonathan Jeffcoat and his wife A.J., Ansley Welchel and her husband David, Michael Jeffcoat, Karla Kirby and Kelly Kirby. Mr. Kirby ws predeceassed by a son, Rick Kirby. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Tabernacle Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Roger Plemmons and the Rev. Gideon Long. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be James Coffer, Ronnie Kirby, Joe Lawson, Roger Wade, Tim Vaughan and Kim Nichols. Members of the Men's Sunday School Class of Tabernacle Baptist Church are asked to assemble at the church Friday at 1:45 p.m. to form the honorary escort. The family will receive friends at Tabernacle Baptist Church Thursday night from 6:30 until 8. Memorials may be made to the Tabernacle Baptist Church, 915 S. Pinckney St., Union, S.C. 29379. The S.R.
