Description	:	Son of Mark and Lucile(Sawyer) Hooper, the youngest of three children. He attended country school in Sheridan county and high school in Curtis at the Nebraska School of Agriculture. He graduated from Alliance High School in 1944. The same year he joined the U.S. Navy and served aboard a Victory ship on Enewetak Atoll in the Marshall Islands. He graduated from Alliance High School in 1944. The same year he joined the U.S. Navy and served aboard a Victory ship on Enewetak Atoll in the Marshall Islands. In 1946 he married Dorothy Barth in Rushville. They lived their entire married life on the Hooper family ranch. Bruce was a third generation Hooper who ranched in the Nebraska sandhills, and he raised high quality Angus cattle. He honed his roping skills at a very early age and was a skillful horse trainer. He was never without a good horse and seldom without a good dog. He inherited his grandfather J.L. Hooper's wit, humor and ability to tell a good story. He enjoyed visiting with friends, neighbors, and relatives and never passed up an opportunity to attend a dance with his favorite dance partner, "Mrs. Hoop". The country dances hosted by Bruce and Dorothy at the ranch were events not to be missed for many years. Together they raised five children: Carol (Dick) Bauer of Alliance, Sally (Larry) Mannlein of Las Vegas, Nevada, Sid (Susan) Hooper of North Platte, Nancy (Kutch) Kutchara of Hemingford, and Brian (Jodene) of Alliance. In addition to his five children, Bruce is survived by grandchildren Brent (Amber) Mannlein, Eric (Erica) Mannlein, Mark Hooper, Ryan Hooper, Jordan Hooper and Kyle Hooper and great granddaughters, Gabriele and Audrey Mannlein and Olivia Mannlein. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by Dorothy, his wife of 62 years, his parents, Mark and Lucile, his brother Mahlon, his sister, Macile Zink, and infant twin sons, Lee Robert and Lynn Gerald.
