Description	:	Bula Eileen EILEEN Shaner, daughter of Elmer T. and Anna J. (Steinke) White, was born May 24, 1909 near Lushton. She passed away at the Fairview Manor in Fairmont on Nov. 24, 2004, at the age of 95 years, six months. She was the second child of a family of five children. (Steinke) White, was born May 24, 1909 near Lushton. She passed away at the Fairview Manor in Fairmont on Nov. 24, 2004, at the age of 95 years, six months. She was the second child of a family of five children. She attended rural school, District No. 70, in Fillmore County, graduated from the Lushton High School, and then attended York College for two years. Following her education, she taught school in Fillmore County and York County for five terms. She loved teaching and loved to talk of her early days as a teacher. ON April 16, 1932, she was married to Paul F. Shaner at York. They had one son, Jimmy Paul. She spent her entire married life in Geneva, with the exception of a few months in Longmont, Colo., where they moved for the health of their son. Eileen was employed for four and one half years at Smith's Public Market in Geneva during World War II. Later, she was employed at the Fulton Gamble and Furniture Store, where she was a sales lady, and worked there for more than 35 years. After he husband's death in Sept. 1982, she became an area representative for the Paler Brothers Granite Company, a position she held for 20 years until March of 2003. Eileen was very active in all aspects fo Christian work after accepting Christ as her personal Savior. She taught Sunday School for more than 35 years, and served in many other capacities in the various churches that she and her husband attended. She was active in Child Evangelism, working for many years and was deeply interested in missions. Her greatest desire was to see souls come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and to make Him Lord of their lives. The verse she claimed as her life verse was Galations 2:20. She and her husband were charter members of the Evangelical Free Church in Geneva where she served as a deaconess for a number of years. In addition to her church activities, she was a member of the Geneva Woman's Club and Book Review. She was always thrilled with her involvement with the Geneva Senior Center and took an active part at the Senior Center. She was also an honorary member of the Pioneer Club. Eileen is survived by her son James P and wife Maxine E. Shaner; a granddaughter Cynthia and husband Dr. Christopher H. Kang, and great-granddaughter, Chloe K. Kang; brother, Dr. Robert W. White; by many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Anna White; her husband Paul; two sisters L. Muriel White; and Roine and husband Murray Shaner; brother, Forrest White; and sister-in-law Louise White. The Nebraska Signal December 1st, 2004 page 11.
