Description	:	Former Minden resident Burdette Carlson, 78, of Grand Island, died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2006, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island. Services were held Thursday at Bethany Lutheran Church in Minden withthe Rev. Donald Hunzeker officiating. Burial with military rites by Minden American Legion and Heartwell Veterans of Foreign Wars was in Minden Cemetery. Mr. Carlson was born April 25, 1927, to Sieford W. and Mabel A. (Olson) Carlson in Axtell. He grew up in the Axtell area and graduated from Axtell High School. He served in the U.S.Army from 1945-47. On May 2, 1948, he married Betty Nelson in Minden. They lived in Holdrege, Minden and Axtell.They owned and operated Carlson Market in Axtell until 1963, when they sold the market and moved to Minden. Heowned and operated Carlson Insurance Agency in Minden until retiring in 1986. They later moved to Grand Island.He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Minden and served on the council. He also was a member of Kearney Elks and Eagles, Axtell Veterans of Foreign Wars and MindenAmerican Legion Post No. 94. Survivors are his wife; one son, Daniel of Omaha; three daughters, Becky Reimers of Elkhorn, Tami Manhart of Grand Island and Beth Petty ofParker, Colo.; three sisters, Lorraine Enquist of Holdrege, Adeline Swanson of Kearney and Gevon Holt of Olsburg,Kan.; 11 grandchildren; and onegreat-grandchild. He was preceded in death by one brother.
