Description	:	Burdette Joseph Boshart was born on May 11, 1925, in Milford, Nebraska to Joseph and Faye (Stutzman) Boshart, the oldest of five children and passed away Thursday, October 7, 2010 at Gramercy Hill in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 85 years, 4 months and 26 days. Read More	Burdette Joseph Boshart was born on May 11, 1925, in Milford, Nebraska to Joseph and Faye (Stutzman) Boshart, the oldest of five children and passed away Thursday, October 7, 2010 at Gramercy Hill in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 85 years, 4 months and 26 days. In his youth he accepted Christ as his personal savior and was baptized at Milford Mennonite Church. Burdette attended and later graduated from Milford High School with the class of 1943. He was drafted into the U.S. Army during World War II and served overseas in the European Theatre for over two years before returning to Nebraska in 1946. Burdette worked for a time at Cushman Manufacturing in Lincoln before moving to Milford where he was employed at the Milford Vocational Technical School where he was the equipment manager and groundskeeper for 12 years. On September 26, 1948, he was united in marriage to Deloris Stutzman at the East Fairview Mennonite Church and to this union five children were born: Patricia, Holly, Carla, Mike and Pam. In 1971, Burdette went to work for Ace Hardware Corporation, as a truck driver, traveling throughout the region including Nebraska, Kansas, South Dakota and Missouri. He retired in 1990. Burdette was a charter member of the Beth El Mennonite Church, served as regional director of the Mennonite Disaster Service for many years traveling with Deloris responding to various disaster sites. He served as member and fire chief with the Milford Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad for many years, receiving the million-mile safe driver award for his years of service with Ace Hardware. During his retirement, Burdette enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Burdette was a kind and sweet man who had a gentle spirit about him. He enjoyed being a mentor to many who he came into contact with. He instilled the love and appreciation of the outdoors to many, demonstrating the true values of fishing and hunting to those around him. Survivors are: his daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Lynn Hostetler, Columbia, MO, Holly and Roger Hostetler, Milford, Carla and Don Yeackley, Milford, Pam and Van Wurst of Columbus, NE; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Shari Boshart of Lincoln; 10 grandchildren, Pia Capell, Chris and Jessica Hostetler, Michael and Krista Hostetler, Corey and Valerie Hostetler, Tara and Jason Stahl, Travis and Tracy Yeackley, Trevor Boshart, Taylor Boshart, Rhett and Mary Wurst and Kasey Wurst; 8 great-grandchildren, Adison and Griffin Capell, Rachel and Elizabeth Hostetler, Isaac and Izzy Yeackley, Jack and John Stahl; brothers and sister-in-law, Bob and Irene Boshart, Milford, Don Boshart of Wichita, KS, sisters-in-law, Moneda Stutzman of Kent, Ohio; Beulah Stutzman, Lincoln, Arla Stutzman, Cairo, NE, brothers-in-law, Lonnie Stutzman, Milford, and Darold Eicher, Lincoln and a host of relatives and friends. Burdette was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Deloris in 2001; an infant sister, Mary Jo, brother, Elwood Boshart and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
