Description	:	Burnell Eugene Johnson, son of Andrew and Gladys (Jensen) Johnson, was born December 1, 1924 near Viborg, SD. He grew up and received his education there. He graduated from Viborg High School in 1942. He entered the U.S. Army in April of 1945 in the Army Corps of Engineers. He was honorably discharged in December of 1946. He then attended the University of South Dakota and graduated from South Dakota State College in 1952. Burnell was united in marriage with Marlys Jibben on January 15, 1954 in Viborg. He grew up and received his education there. He graduated from Viborg High School in 1942. He entered the U.S. Army in April of 1945 in the Army Corps of Engineers. He was honorably discharged in December of 1946. He then attended the University of South Dakota and graduated from South Dakota State College in 1952. Burnell was united in marriage with Marlys Jibben on January 15, 1954 in Viborg. They farmed near Viborg for two years. He began working for the Federal Land Bank in 1956, and spent 30 years with the Farm Credit System in Miller, Yankton and Beresford, SD. He was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church. Burnell was a life member of the V.F.W., American Legion, Elks Club, and Norse Glee Club. He sang in the choir at Wesley United Methodist Church where Burnell and Marlys were members and active with the Friendship Bible Class. Burnell loved to hunt and fish with his sons, Marlin and Craig. He enjoyed reading books on regional history, walking, and playing bridge. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Marlys Johnson, Sioux Falls, SD; two sons, Marlin Johnson and his fiancée, Anita, Rapid City, SD, Craig Johnson and his wife, Toni, Sioux Falls, SD; two grandchildren, Brady and Andrew Johnson; three step-grandchildren, Monica, Scott and Joe Barber; two step-great-grandchildren, Saber and Jaycub; a brother, Delbert Johnson and his wife, AnnaBelle, Vermillion, SD; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Peggy Ann Johnson; a granddaughter, Stevie Johnson; and his parents.
