Description	:	Jack Smith, 92, of Morning Sun, died Monday, Aug. 9, 2004, at the Morning Sun Care Center. Born Aug. 14, 1911, in Yarmouth, he was the son of William B. and Lillian (Asby) Smith. On Nov. 25, 1935, he married Susan Thompson in Morning Sun. Mr. Smith was a school principal and coach at both Yarmouth and Morning Sun high schools, and then worked at Iowa State Bank for 37 years before his retirement. Read More	Jack Smith, 92, of Morning Sun, died Monday, Aug. 9, 2004, at the Morning Sun Care Center. Born Aug. 14, 1911, in Yarmouth, he was the son of William B. and Lillian (Asby) Smith. On Nov. 25, 1935, he married Susan Thompson in Morning Sun. Mr. Smith was a school principal and coach at both Yarmouth and Morning Sun high schools, and then worked at Iowa State Bank for 37 years before his retirement. He served as Morning Sun City clerk and Morning School Board treasurer for several years. He was a graduate of Yarmouth High School and Iowa Wesleyan College. He attended officer training at Princeton University then served as a Lt. J.G. in the U.S. Navy during World War 11. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and golfer. Survivors include his wife; one daughter Sonja Smith of Ft. Myers, FL; one son, Jeffrey Smith of Sandy, Utah, and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Alan, one brother and two sisters. There will be no visitation. His body has been cremated. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Morning Sun First United Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jack Edmission officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
