Description	:	Burt L. Flagtwet, son of Adolph and Henrietta (Tople) Flagtvedt was born on May 16, 1935 in Pierpont, SD. This is the area where he was raised and attended school, graduating from Pierpont High School with the class of 1953. Burt was married to his high school sweetheart Pamela Mielke on June 19, 1955 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Groton, SD. Flagtwet, son of Adolph and Henrietta (Tople) Flagtvedt was born on May 16, 1935 in Pierpont, SD. This is the area where he was raised and attended school, graduating from Pierpont High School with the class of 1953. Burt was married to his high school sweetheart Pamela Mielke on June 19, 1955 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Groton, SD. This is where the couple made their home for two years where Burt was employed with the City of Groton in the electrical department. During his time in Groton, Burt was instrumental in helping build the entire town’s power line system. In 1957, he went to work for Northwestern Public Service as a Journeyman Lineman. Burt was later promoted to Small Line Foreman and then Line Foreman, a position which he held until his retirement in 1995. Following a stroke in 2010, Burt made his home for a short time at ManorCare prior to becoming a resident at Bethesda Home. Burt was a life time member of the IBEW. He was active at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Aberdeen where he volunteered as a bus driver for Sunday worship services as well as Wednesday school. Burt loved to fish and was always willing to help others with whatever job they had. He loved kids and spent countless hours at his daughter’s daycare where he was lovingly known as grandpa. Burt loved his family and especially cherished the time he was able to spend with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Grateful for having shared Burt’s life are his wife of 59 years, Pamela Flagtwet; two sons, Lonnie and Kent Flagtwet; two daughters, Kim Sauvage and Karla Chase; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. Burt was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Arvid and Dale Flagtwet; one sister, Audrey Winson; and one nephew, Thomas Winson.
