Craven Dies in Grinnell Hospital Saturday Byard Edwin Craven, a county native and well-known throughout the state for his poultry breeding experiments, died Saturday afternoon in the Community hospital in Grinnell. Mr. Craven was an authority on poultry development and was the first president of the Iowa State Poultry Improvement association. Services will be Tuesday, at 2 p.m. in Kellogg Methodist church conducted by the Rev. Grace Anderson. Burial will be in Our Silent City cemetery. Oberlander, Newton; a brother, John Craven, Kellogg; two sisters, Ms. Elsie Sullivan, Kellogg, and Mrs. Bess Van Meter, of Newton. Mr. Craven was born on a farm north of Kellogg, Sept. 5, 1893, the son of James and Julia Craven. He was graduated from Kellogg high school and Highland Park college in Des Moines. He married Lillian Helken Aug. 4, 1918, in Atlantic. She died in 1953. He moved from his farm to Kellogg in 1945.
