Read More	Memorial Services for Byrdie Jean McBride Beckwith Rozell of Sun Lakes, AZ, formerly of Albion and Bellevue, NE, will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 22, 2012 at the United Methodist Church in Albion, NE. Levander Funeral Home of Albion, NE is in charge of arrangements. Byrdie Jean McBride Beckwith Rozell of Sun Lakes, AZ, formerly of Albion and Bellevue, NE, passed away on April 18 at the Hospice of the Southwest in Mesa, AZ, at the age of 83 following a long battle with Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases. Byrdie Jean McBride was born on the family farm near Primrose, NE, October 28, 1928, to James and Ruth (Jordan) McBride. She was baptized and confirmed at the Primrose Presbyterian Church. She attended District 52 “The Little Red School House” and graduated from Primrose High School. At the age of 16, Byrdie became the youngest female pilot in Nebraska. She continued to fly for several years. In September of 1948 she was united in marriage to Ralph Edward Beckwith of rural Albion. To this union two sons were born, Douglas Charles and David Russell. After farming for a few years, Ralph and Byrdie opened Beckwith Insurance and Real Estate in Albion. Byrdie was very active in the Albion community. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Church Hope Circle, the History and Art Club of the Albion Women’s Club, the VFW Auxiliary, Eastern Star, the high school Booster Club, the Parents’ Music Association, the PTA, the Albion Country Club, the Ladies’ Bowling League and Golf League and several other community volunteer projects. In Bellevue, she was an active supporter of the Fontenelle Forest Nature Preserve and a member of P.E.O. Ralph passed away in February of 1973. In June of 1974 she was united in marriage to Glen Douglas Rozell of Bellevue, NE. Glen was a member of the US Air Force and after their marriage the two moved to Thailand where Glen was stationed at Udorn Air Force Base Thailand. They returned to Bellevue where Glen continued his career at Offut Air Force Base before working for the U.S. Postal Service. In 1999 they moved to Sun Lakes, AZ. She is survived by her husband Glen, her sons Doug of Chandler, AZ, and David and his husband Dietrich Nelson of Los Angeles, CA, sisters- and brothers-in-law Dot Beckwith, Tom and Donna Hartford, Bill and Cathy Rozell, Mike and Calette Rozell and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Byrdie was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, her first husband Ralph, her sister Betty Lou Hartford and nephew Dr. James Hartford. Services will be held at the Sun Lakes United Methodist Church on May 5 and the Albion United Methodist Church on June 22.
