Byron Hoffman of Olin died April 22 at the Anamosa Community Hospital in Anamosa. He was born at Hale on August 6, 1937, the son of George and Etta McGuire Hoffman and attended country school near Hale and then later at Olin High School. During his education at Olin, he lived and worked with William Brodersen on the farm. As a young man, Buzz worked for area farmers. On May 19, 1956, he married Patricia Johnson at Elmore, MN. They moved to Ledyard, where Buzz worked as a city employee for several years. Buzz began delivering motorhomes and then moved to Mentoze, IN, where he drove a semi until his health forced him to retire from driving. He then began working in an auto parts store until his health forced him to stop working completely. Buzz and Dixie Abt have lived in Olin since 1984. Buzz is survived by three sons Gregory of Indiana, Jeffrey of Ledyard, and Keegan of Olin; one daughter, Penny Finnestad of Ringstead; five grandchildren and four sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
