Description	:	Byron Franklin Willilams was born in Otoe County, Nebraska, on Feb. 19, 1917 and died on Jan. 26, 1982 at his home in Lamoni. Franklin was the youngest of eight children born to Edward Ernest and Josephine (White) Williams. Read More	Byron Franklin Willilams was born in Otoe County, Nebraska, on Feb. 19, 1917 and died on Jan. 26, 1982 at his home in Lamoni. Franklin was the youngest of eight children born to Edward Ernest and Josephine (White) Williams. At the age of twelve, Franklin was baptized a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The year of 1961 was a turning point in Franklin's life; he was called and accepted to the priesthood in the office of Deacon. This brought joy to his life and in this way his greatest desire was that others might enjoy the knowledge and gift of Jesus Christ. This was his greatest concern until the day of his passing. On Sept. 23, 1939, he was united in marriage to Esther Elizabeth Snethen. To this union were born seven children: Elizabeth Ann Newberry, Lamoni, Mary Josephine Detrick of Kewanee, Ill., James Franklin of Lamoni, Judith Lynn Kozuki of West Des Moines, Bryon Raymond of Lamoni, Laura Louise of Osaka, Japan, and Ernest Leroy of Parkville, Mo. Franklin was an avid sports fan. In earlier years, softball absorbed all his leisure time. While in Lamoni he played on the Lamoni Creamery Team, the Lamoni All-Star Team, and the Eagleville All Stars. He became an accomplished pitcher often striking out as many as half of the opposing team. His trucking career began when Franklin hauled cream into the Lamoni Co-Op Creamery. From there he went to Kansas City and worked for Blue Balley Transfer Steel Haulers for Sheffield Steel. While working for Blue Valley he was an excellent loader and became number one driver making deliveries in Kansas, Nebraska, and Missouri. After being employed there for 19 years, he returned to Lamoni in 1962. There he continued trucking for the Lamoni Sales Corp. Later he assisted Esther with the Cafe, worked as a policeman for the City of Lamoni and then at the Graceland College Bookstore for three years before he became disabled. Since that time he was a familiar figure on the streets of Lamoni where he enjoyed greeting his many friends. Franklin was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, two sisters, one grandson, and one step-grandson. He is survived by his wife, Esther, three sons, four daughters, also five grandsons, nine granddaughters, three step-grandsons and three step-granddaughters, his brother, Melvin L. of Lansing, Kan.. many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and a multitude of friends. Funeral services, under the direction of the Lamoni Funeral Home, were held Saturday, Jan. 30, 1982, at II a.m. from the Lamoni RLDS Church. Officiating were Elders Raymond Lesh and Leonard Boswell. Burial was at Rose Hill Cemetery.
