He leaves to mourn their loss his wife, children, grandma Benge, two sisters, Mrs. Bettie Jackson of Phillipsburg, KS, and Mrs. Nannie Lang, of Floris, IA; three brothers, Ollie of Petersburg, ND; Albert and Noah, of Floris, IA; nine grandchildren and a host of friends and neighbors. The children were all present except the one in KS. He was a kind and loving husband and father,, a good neighbor, and will be sadly missed in the community where he was born and raised and lived all his life. he was a member of the M.E. church at Bethel, having joined some 23 or 24 years ago during a revival meeting conducted by Bro. Carson obit C.J. Bales died at his home south east of Floris, Sunday after a brief illness from kidney trouble. Funeral services were conducted at the residence Tues afternoon by Rev Swan, the baptist minister. Deceased was born in IN fifty-seven years ago. He is survived by his wife and five children, Sylvester Bales, south of Floris; Mrs Lauretta Rogers, Newton, KS; Mrs Minnie Padgett, Chequest; Misses May and Cecil at home with their mother. His wife Sarah Louise Benge is daughter of Alfred and Amanda Pottorff Benge.
