Description	:	Son of Thomas (b.1776) and Susanna Talbott (1769-1855) Plummer Caleb Plummer died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. S. J. Smith, Thurs, Mar 1895 at the age of 89 Years and 26 days. Deceased was born 16 Feb 1806 in Frederick Co., MD. He grew to manhood and in 1831 (June 6) he married Rebecca Pittenger in Wayne Co., OH. Read More	Son of Thomas (b.1776) and Susanna Talbott (1769-1855) Plummer Caleb Plummer died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. S. J. Smith, Thurs, Mar 1895 at the age of 89 Years and 26 days. Deceased was born 16 Feb 1806 in Frederick Co., MD. He grew to manhood and in 1831 (June 6) he married Rebecca Pittenger in Wayne Co., OH. They removed to IL in 1844 and seeking to better their fortune came as far west as Poweshiek Co., IA, near the present town of Brooklyn in 1853. The last move was made in 1872 to Pottawattamie Co., IA. They were the happy parents of 15 children, seven sons and eight daughters. Two of them, one son and one daughter died in infancy. There were four sons in the Union Army of the late Rebellion, three of whom died for their country. (John, Thomas, and Nicholas.) There are ten children, forty one grandchildren, twenty four great grandchildren left to mourn the death of the departed. There is one son, A. W. Plummer, living near Mondovi, WA, one daughter, Mary Stephens near Barron Co., WI, who on account of the distance were unable to attend the funeral. Mrs. S.P. Lester near Harlan and Mrs. C. L. Greenlee, near Persia were unable to attend on account of sickness. The children present were: Joseph and Omar Plummer from Portsmouth, Mrs. Bell Waddell near Woodbine, Miss Lydia Plummer near Persia, and Mrs. S. J. Smith of Hancock. Deceased was a millwright and worked at his trade until his sight began to fail him. He was born and raised a Quaker, but in 1855 both he and his wife joined the Methodist Church, they afterwords joined the Evangelical Church in 1886, of which they were members until their death. His wife died 29 Jan 1888 and he has gone to join her in that better land where there is neither pain, sorrow, nor death. The last day of his life he said to his daughter Mrs. Smith, "I have just spent two hours in prayer with the Lord and now I am satisfied." He died fully trusting in the Lord and was ready to go. The funeral services were held in the Methodist Church at Shelby by Rev. Knoche of the Evangelical Church. The Masonic Order took charge of the body and accompanied it to its last resting place with last rites performed by the fraternity.
