In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her sister, Melle Burch Purtell and her brother Jimmie Davis Allen. She is survived by her sister Hazel Adden and husband Lt. Col (Ret.) William Adden, brother Jerry Gene Allen and wife Libby Allen and brother Rogers Allen, son Wendell Tomlin and wife Pat McNellis, son Phil Tomlin and wife Hedrich Michaelsen and son Merill Tomlin and wife Jane Tomlin and four grandchildren. The second of six siblings Marguerite was born Callie Marguerite Allen to Bertha Mae and Jerry Allen in Horry County South Carolina in July 1922. She grew up in Aynor South Carolina graduating from Aynor High School and Limestone College and though she traveled and live all over the country as a Methodist minister's wife she remained very much a "Carolina Girl." In 1965 she settled with her 3 sons in Columbia and became Supervisor of Houseparents at Epworth Children's Home. After her retirement from Epworth in 1985, she moved to Christopher Tower and stayed busy making friends and remained active with Shandon Baptist Church. In 1999 Marguerite moved to Milford Ohio to be closer to her new joy, her four grandchildren; Violet, Emily, Taylor and Adelaide Tomlin. Here she also employed her friend making skills around the SEM Laurels Community as well as her new church, Milford United Methodist, where she stayed as active as she was able. Her faith in the Lord was strong and she never missed a chance to give thanks or lend a hand as needed. Marguerite was a good person, fine friend, and loving mother. Memorials may be send to Epworth Children's Home in Columbia South Carolina 2900 Millwood Ave. A family service will be held to lay her to rest beside her parents, Bertha Mae and Jerry, in Aynor South Carolina at a later date.
