Callie Raymond White, Sr. died at his home in Rockingham on Ann St. at 7:30 this Wed. morning. The funeral will be from the Methodist Church here Thurs. Jan. 25 at 3:00. Active pall bearers Thurs. will be close friends--Walter and James Covington, A.H. Rohleder, Jr., Jack Milstead, John T. Hamer and Ledbetter McKenzie. Callie White was born Aug. 8, 1897 in Anson County, son of Alvin and Laura Sanders white. He was married to Mary Hamer and she and a daughter survive--Mrs. H.V. Carter, Jr. the former Mary Jane White. Also there are two grandsons, Raymond Semms Carter, age 3 and Robert Judson Carter age 1. And a sister and a brother--Miss Lily White of Rockingham and John J. White of High Point. Callie White was connected with the W. T. Covington and Co., for over 20 years, in the cotton business. He always led an active life--until suffering a heart attack January 25, 1950. And since that time has been kept to his home. Callie was a friendly person, a through gentleman to the nth degree. His passing now is a source of keen regret to many friends and associates. Richmond County Daily Journal Jan. 24, 1951 Callie Raymond White Service is conducted- Prominent Rockingham Citizen Succumbs Wednesday Morning at Residence on Ann Street.
