Description	:	Calvin Boyd Parker, age 80, of the Celo Area, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 19th, 2015 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital after a period of declining health. A native of Yancey County, he was born on January 25th, 1935 and was raised by his grandparents, Charlie and Atlas McMahan Parker. He was also preceded in death by siblings: Larry Boone, Daniel Boone and Thelma Boone. He was a member Brown's Creek Baptist Church. Read More	Calvin Boyd Parker, age 80, of the Celo Area, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 19th, 2015 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital after a period of declining health. A native of Yancey County, he was born on January 25th, 1935 and was raised by his grandparents, Charlie and Atlas McMahan Parker. He was also preceded in death by siblings: Larry Boone, Daniel Boone and Thelma Boone. He was a member Brown's Creek Baptist Church. He was a carpenter and worked for many years at Henredon Furniture Company. He enjoyed watching professional wrestling, bear hunting, picking galax, raising a vegetable garden, helping others and his dog, Smoky. He leaves behind his loving wife, Cathy Honeycutt Parker and a son, Max, of the home. Also left to honor his memory are siblings: Carliss and Clara Briggs of Burnsville, Norma Walker of Marion, Darliss Watson of Charlotte, Phyllis Bradshaw of Morganton, Jennie Thompson of Marion, Sante Fe Honeycutt of Unicoi, TN, CW Boone of Marion, Paul Boone of Marion, Charley Boone of Burnsville and Leslie Boone of Marion; brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. Rebecca Thomas, who was like a daughter to him and Cathy and his good friend, Hubert Whitehead. He will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 22nd at 2:30 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to the services at Yancey Funeral Services. Officiating will be Rev. Glen Autrey, who visited with Calvin and is a good friend to him and Cathy. Burial will be in the family cemetery. A special thank you to Megan Chandler, his great niece, for the care you gave Calvin and for being there when he needed you. Also to Calvin's cousin, Harlan Parker, for all your help. God bless you both.
