The remains will arrive Thursday morning and the funeral services will be conducted by Rev. A. T. Bishop at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Granger on the North Sixth street, Thursday afternoon at two o'clock. Mr. Day is survived by his wife four daughters and one son. Marion Sentinel Thursday April 24, 1913 --The remains of Calvin Day, formerly of Marion, who died at his home near Kit Carson, Colorado, arrived this morning. The funeral will be held at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Chas. Granger, this afternoon at two o'clock. His wife and a daughter accompanied the remains here. Calvin Day was born in western Pennsylvania, near Pittsburgh, April 7, 1843; died at his home twelve miles northeast of Kit Carson, Colo., at 11:02 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 1913, aged 70 years and 13 days. He was the oldest of seven children, coming with his family from Pennsylvania to Iowa in 1861, where he resided until 1908, when on his ?5th birthday he left Iowa to take up a homestead in Colorado. On Oct. 25, 1865, he was married to Rebecca Moderwell of Davenport, Iowa, to whom eight children were born, three of which died in infancy. He is survived by his wife and five children: Etta B. McCartney of Seattle, Wash.; Anna J. Granger of Marion, Iowa; Nellie A. Sparks and Hattie A. Ware, both of Kit Carson, Colo., and Joseph R. Day of Chicago, Ill. In any community where Mr. Day ever lived he was highly respected by all who knew him and was known as an exceptional character with regard to his consideration of welfare for his family and friends, and always overlooking his own needs and desires if he could give service to others. At the age of 21 he united with the M.E. church, but for a number of years had not been a member of any church, but during his last sickness he said that everything was alright. He will be mourned by all who knew him.
