Suko May 29, 1941 - March 16, 2022 Calvin (Cal), son of Tavalt and Elsie (Gomke) Suko, was born May 29, 1941 in Jamestown, North Dakota and baptized in at the Alfred Congregational Church in Alfred, ND. He grew up on the family farm in Moon Lake Township and worked the land with his parents for many years. He attended a country school and graduated from Jamestown High School. He married Kay Wegenke on October 1, 1964 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Jamestown where he became a member of the church and was confirmed. They lived on the family farm for several years then moved to Jamestown in 1967 when he began employment with Curtis Electric, Inc. He became a journeyman electrician and worked with the firm until 1990. He worked for a short time with Willmar Electric in International Falls, Minnesota, and with John's Electric in Valley City. He joined Richardson Electric in Jamestown in 1991 and retired in April, 2012. In 1977 he and Kay build a home on the original Wegenke farm in Lippert Township. He was an active member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Jamestown, serving in many capacities thru the years. He also served as a Lippert Township supervisor and was a member of the Board of Directors of the Jamestown Rural Fire Department. Cal enjoyed working with his hands. He was always thinking of ways to re- engineer some item to make it better. He loved working with wood and had an artistic eye. He was 'Papa' to his five grandchildren, making them many things from wood …a cradle that all the babies slept in, toy boxes, building blocks, a musical dinosaur and lots of toys. Each summer, when the grandchildren came to the farm, they were delighted by the surprises he had made them. One of their favorites was the tire swing he had hung in the big cottonwood tree. For several years there were modifications to make it even more fun. He bought them a Go-Cart and made a track for them thru the farmyard, trees and pasture. So many happy hours were spent at the farm. All five grandchildren would say "Papa can make anything." In September 2019, Calvin and Kay moved to Wisconsin to be closer to their children and their families.
