Description	:	Calvin Dewey “CD” Ouzts, 87, of 207 Mathews Heights Road, widower of Mina Lucille Capps Ouzts, died September 7, 2011 at Hospice House. Born in Edgefield, he was a son of the late George Dewey Ouzts and Emma Bryan Timmerman Ouzts. He was preceded in death by two sons, Ernie Ouzts and Eddie Ouzts; brothers, Wynton Timmerman and Edward Timmerman; sisters, Annie T. Summer and Elsie Ouzts Johnson; and brothers-in-law, Milton Capps, Lance Capps and Arlie Capps. Surviving are a son, Dewey Ouzts of Ware Shoals; a daughter-in-law, Wanda Lyle Ouzts of Bradley; five sisters-in-law, Louise Parkman, Helen Strom, Nellie Ware and Dot Capps, all of Greenwood, Edna Earle Ellis and her husband, Jimmy, of Abbeville; five grandsons; eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. CD was an active member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and was a member of the choir. He was a US Army veteran of World War II, where he served in the 45th Infantry Division. He also served in the Anzio Beach Invasion in Italy and was a recipient of the Purple Heart, along with other distinguished medals. CD’s hobbies included hunting and fishing. His greatest passion was his music. There was nothing he enjoyed more that playing his guitar. His love for music lead to a Thursday night tradition that touched many lives for over 40 years. Burial in the Mountain Creek Baptist Church cemetery.
