Description	:	Calvin Jaton, age 85, of Nunda, died on Sunday, May 7, 2017 from injuries sustained in a car accident. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM on Friday, May 12th at Grace Lutheran Church, Nunda with Rev. Phillip Hofinga officiating. Visitation will be 6-8 PM on Thursday at Weiland Funeral Chapel with a prayer service at 7:30 PM. Visitation will continue on Friday one hour prior to the service at the church. Calvin George was born September 9, 1931 in Canova, SD, the son of Elton & Lucy (Chappell) Jaton. He grew up on various farms in Lake & Miner County. On August 11, 1951, he married Viola Lauck in Pipestone, MN. After they were married, they moved to a farm south of Arlington and lived there until they moved to the farm near Nunda in 1964. Calvin loved living & working on the farm and he did it his entire life. Along with farming, Calvin also sold Pioneer Seeds for 28 years. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Calvin could often be found in the shop restoring an old John Deere tractor. He was a faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church for many years. Calvin is survived by his three sons, Rodney (Donna) of Ramona, Michael (Suzanne) of Rutland and Steve (Virginia) of Nunda; two daughters, Audrey (Joel) Keierleber of Colome, SD and Penny Hopf of Ramona; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; brother, Claude (Fonda) Jaton of Omaha, NE; sister, Bonnie Mahana of Silver Lake, KS and brother-in-law, Dale (Pat) Lauck of Madison. He was preceded in death by his wife, Viola (2013); parents, Elton & Lucy; 2 brothers, Dennis & DeWayne; an infant sister; son, Gary (1983); grandson, Justin (2011) and an infant daughter.
