He was one of the twin sons, the other Luther died several years ago. He grew to manhood in the neighborhood northwest of Crawfordsville and married Ida Black of that neighborhood in 1889. To them were born three children, James, Jennie and Verna who with their families and their mother survive. About 34 years ago the family went to Wenatchee, Washington where they purchased a large fruit ranch in the Wenatchee valley so famed for its wonderful fruits. Mr. Gormley, who had owned and improved a fine farm near Crawfordsville and was a real farmer at heart took great pleasure in what to him was just another type of farming. The family home was still on this ranch which they operated till a few years ago when failing health made it impractical. He then sold to his son Jim who with his wife and two sons have been next door neighbors ever since. The daughters, Jennie and Verna each have families in or near Wenatchee where they could come home often and have their parents in their homes. Thus Mr. and Mrs. Gormley could see and enjoy children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and probably there never was prouder grandparents. He had an operation in April, 1943 and had been failing steadily since but was up and about the house and even able to participate in the Christmas festivities of the family which centered around one of the grandsons who was home on furlough from airforce training in a distant state. Another grandson is in the navy and at sea -- still another has been in England with the U.S. army airforce for several months. One of the older grandsons is in a Boeing Air Plant in Seattle and another owns and operates his own ranch. While the youngest of the family is still in high school. The two granddaughters are married and living in Wenatchee. Six grandsons and two granddaughters and the great grand babies have been the pride and joy of the grandparents. Much to the satisfaction of Mrs. Gormley she had been able to care for Mr. Gormley in their own home until recently when their children have been coming home to take a hand in their father's care. Funeral services were to be conducted at Wenatchee and burial will be there on Thursday according to the wire received Tuesday by the niece, Mrs. Howard Crozier. His sisters were Mary Gormley Moore and Ann Gormley McKee and his brothers, Robert and Luther, 2 half brothers; John and Reed. All deceased.
