Description	:	Calvin Otis Lair, 94, of Danville, died Monday, April 2, 2018 at his home. He was born October 8, 1923 in Ewart, Iowa to Jeffrey Joseph and Martha "Birdie" Blevins Lair. On December 7, 1946 he married Thelma Rose Huber in Burlington. He was a 1942 graduate of Barn City High and attended Burlington Community College for two years. Read More	Calvin Otis Lair, 94, of Danville, died Monday, April 2, 2018 at his home. He was born October 8, 1923 in Ewart, Iowa to Jeffrey Joseph and Martha "Birdie" Blevins Lair. On December 7, 1946 he married Thelma Rose Huber in Burlington. He was a 1942 graduate of Barn City High and attended Burlington Community College for two years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Burlington. He was a member of the Plumber and Pipefitter 212 for 55 years, retiring in 1983 and was a member of New London Veterans of Foreign War #7641. Mr. Lair served in the Navy Armed Guard during WWII as a gunner on a merchant ship in the Pacific Theatre. After the war he returned to Burlington where he met his wife. He and Thelma enjoyed traveling the USA and spent many winters at their home in Topock, Arizona. He was deeply loved by all of his family and was a great story teller. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Ronald (Mary) and Jeffrey (Ana), both of New London; two daughters, Catherine Lair (Joe Hensick) of Ashland, Oregon and Christine (Jim) Troutman of Danville; 23 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; brother, Virgil (June) Lair of Mt. Pleasant; sisters, Evelyn Higbee of Centerville, Mary Arnold of Lanark Village, Florida, Joyce Parks of Loveland, Colorado; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Donnie; daughter Constance Warth; two daughters-in-law, Dawn Lair and Carol Lair; two great-grandaughters, Shaelynn and Adalyn; and twin great-grandsons, Bradley and Christopher.
