Description	:	Valley Lumberman Dies, Wife Is Seriously Injured This community was saddened to learn of the accident Sunday night which took the life of one of Valley's outstanding citizens, Camden Junior Moran & seriously injuring his wife. Mr. Moran, 60, manager of the Fullerton Lumber company here for the past 3 years, & his wife, had walked from their home about 9 o'clock to the Ford cafe to get some ice cream & were returning home when the accident occurred. Read More	Valley Lumberman Dies, Wife Is Seriously Injured This community was saddened to learn of the accident Sunday night which took the life of one of Valley's outstanding citizens, Camden Junior Moran & seriously injuring his wife. Mr. Moran, 60, manager of the Fullerton Lumber company here for the past 3 years, & his wife, had walked from their home about 9 o'clock to the Ford cafe to get some ice cream & were returning home when the accident occurred. An engine with 2 freight cars were being backed from the water tank & the couple attempted to go around the end of the cars when Mrs. Moran caught her heel, stumbled & fell onto the rails of the oncoming cars. Mr. Moran tried to rescue her & was also run over by the train, cutting his limbs near the hip & breaking his left arm. Mrs. Moran's right leg was cut off at the knee & the left, above the ankle. Both local doctors were called & with the assistance of Mr. & Mrs. Charles G. Swanson of the Swanson ambulance service, rushed the patients to the Methodist hospital where Mr. Moran died about half an hour later. Mrs. Moran's condition at this writing is "fair". The Moran's lived at Creston, Neb., before they moved to Valley in 1943. Mr. Moran had been in the lumber & grain business most of his life. He was born 23 April 1886, south of Creston, a member of a pioneer family. He had been a trustee of the Presbyterian Church at Creston & upon coming here he & his wife affiliated with the Baptist - Presbyterian church & Mrs. Moran had been active in choir work for sometime. Mr. Moran was elected & ordained an Elder in the Valley church. Mr. Moran was an active member of the Valley Chamber of Commerce & was head of the Industrial committee. He was also a member of the State Lumberman's Association. Mr. Moran received his education at Creston & was married 10 May 1910 to Miss Ida May Clark of that city. For many yaers he was actively engaged as manager of the Farmers Elevator. In 1935, the family moved to Schaller, Iowa, where he was manager of an elevator for 10 years returning to Creston at the end of that period. Since moving to Valley in May of 1943, Mr. & Mrs. Moran have made many friend & Mr. Moran will be greatly missed from our midst. Brief funeral services will be held here Thursday morning at 9 a.m. at the Baptist - Presbyterian Church, with Dr. Fred E. Hamlin, pastor, officiating. There will be no music. The remains will then be taken overland to Creston for services ar 2:30 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church with burial in the Creston Cemetery. Surviving are his wife; 3 children, Fern of Valley; Elton C. of des Moines; Camden J. just released from the U.S. Army after serving overseas in the South Pacific; 1 sister, Mrs. E. A. Luedtke, Minonk, Ill., 5 brothers, Clyde, St. Edward; Charles, Peru, Ill.; Roy, Pingree, No. Dak.; Robert, Omaha & Ernest, Minonk, Ill. source: Valley Gazette Friday 26 July 1946
