Description	:	Alexander Welch was on of Greebrier's earliest settlers. He was a surveyor and he recorded the first plat of Lewisburg in 1794, having been made Chief Surveyor in 1784. He married Frances Hunter Lawrence Arbuckle, the widow of Capt. Matthew Arbuckle on March 11, 1783 in Greenbrier County. The had four known children, two who's names have been lost to history and Agnes Nancy and Frances. Agnes Nancy was the mother of Brigadier General Alexander Reynolds of the Confederate Army.
