Read More	Transcribed by Dave Tanner Well Known Captain Dies - Riverport, May 16 - Sorrow settled over Riverport and surrounding districts this morning when news spread of the passing late last evening of Capt. Clarence J. Myra, a retired Master Mariner. Capt. Myra was 64 years of age, a son of the late Daniel and Cecilia Risser Myra, and a successful fishing captain for many years. His first fishing schooner, the "Doris V. Myra", was run down by the troop ship "Carpathia" early in the spring of 1916. The fishing schooner was returning from a salt fishing trip and Captain Myra and crew were taken on board the "Carpathia" and carried to Liverpool, England. He next commanded the "G.A. Rhuland" and later the "Agnes J. Myra". During the depression years he sailed auxiliary boats carrying lobsters and other fish to American ports. Following a serious illness about seven years ago, he retired from sea life. He was an ardent church worker and served as Elder and Treasurer in Trinity United Church. Two years ago he represented the Lunenburg and Queens Presbytery of the United Church of Canada at the General Council held at Belleville, Ontario. He was also a member of the La Have Lodge A.F. and A.M. and a director of the firm of Ritcey Brothers Limited. He is survived by one son Leon, an employee at the Lunenburg Foundry Company Ltd., and by two daughters, Miss Doris, teacher at La Have, and (Agnes) Mrs Albert Eisenhauer, who resided with her father. His wife, the former Stella Ritcey, passed away five years ago, as well as a brother J. Daniel Myra three years ago. Three sisters, Mrs. F.F. Himmelman of Bridgewater, Mrs. Margaret Wagner and Mr. Stannage Cook of Riverport, also survive. The funeral will be held with Masonic honors Friday afternoon, and will be conducted by his pastor, Rev. W.K. Pace. Interment will be in the Riverport Cemetery at Shepherds Hill.
