Description | : | Civil War Union Army Officer. The son of Congressman Nathan Taylor Stratton and nephew of Congressman John L.N. Stratton, he was commissioned as a Captain in the 12th New Jersey Volunteer Infantry on August 12, 1862, and was mustered in on September 4, 1862 as commander of Company F, a unit he recruited with Lieutenant Joseph Peirson under the authorization of New Jersey Governor Charles Olden.
