Read More	Captain US Army AF -------------------- Obit: Council Bluffs, Iowa Nonpareil April 13, 1987 Eugene C. 'Red' Caughlan, 63, 525 Roosevelt Ave., died Sunday at his residence. Mr. Caughlan was a native and lifetime resident of Council Bluffs. He was a golf professional at the Fontenelle Hill Country Club, retiring in 1984. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and a 1941 graduate of Abraham Lincoln High School. Mr. Caughlan was a World War II veteran and was a B-17 pilot in the European Theatre, earning the Air Medal with four oak leaf clusters; the Purple Heart; Distinguished Flying Cross; and the Silver Star, which is the third highest distinction for valor. He was also a veteran of the Korean Conflict. Survivors include his wife, Jean; one daughter, Nora Bergren of Council Bluffs; two sons, Dr. Charles Caughlan of Mason City and Dr. Thomas Caughlan of Minneapolis, Minn.; five grandchildren; one brother Richard of Council Bluffs; and one sister, Mrs. F. E. (Geraldine) Myers of Council Bluffs. Service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. The Rev. Richard Wagner will officiate. Burial will be in the Walnut Hill Cemetery. The casket will remain closed at all times. Rosary at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Cutler Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Kidney Foundation or the Christian Home. Contributor: Iowa Girl (49254126)
