| Description | : | Capt. John C. Harris was shot by a firing squad in Santigo Square , Santiago Cuba on September 7, 1873 as being a third mate on the Virginius Ship in the Cuban Virginius Affair. Some accounts of the incident recorded in Wikipedia says that the crew members which were executed on November 7th were also mutilated and trampled by horse. He was caught in the ship incident called the" Virginius" in Santiago Bay. Caroline's obituary refereed to the "Virginius" but they got the city wrong.
