Description	:	Captain John Clapp was a soldier in the Revolutionary War and was North Hampton, NH. He served with George Washington at Valley Forge and recalls putting white clay in the flour to make it go further that terrible winter of despair. There was no food to eat many days and most of the army had frozen, bloody feet from the lack of shoes. He moved to Hollis in 1836 after purchasing the homestead of Lot Mooar on Mooars Hill in North Hollis. He only resided in Hollis one year before his death in 1837.
