Description	:	Lloyd J. Quaring, 90, of Grand Island died Sunday, May 29, 2011, at the Good Samaritan Society of Grand Island. Lloyd was born Nov. 24, 1920, at Cairo to John and Emma (Meyer) Quaring. Survivors are: wife, Margaret Quaring of Grand Island, and sister, Norma Woods of Portland, Ore. Lloyd grew up and received his education in Cairo. Lloyd was born Nov. 24, 1920, at Cairo to John and Emma (Meyer) Quaring. Survivors are: wife, Margaret Quaring of Grand Island, and sister, Norma Woods of Portland, Ore. Lloyd grew up and received his education in Cairo. He then attended The University of Nebraska at Kearney where he earned his bachelor's degree. He then attended Chadron State College, where he earned his master's degree. Lloyd entered the U.S. Army on May 10, 1942, serving until his honorable discharge with the rank of captain in April of 1946. Lloyd married Margaret Mieth on Nov. 30, 1947, in rural Cairo. Lloyd had various occupations throughout his working years such as teaching, farming and operating his own business. He was also involved in a number of hobbies, one of which involved restoring an airplane. Lloyd and Margaret moved to Safford, Ariz., in 1979 and returned to Grand Island in 1997. Lloyd was a member of the Evangelical Free Church and Gideons International. Lloyd was preceded in death by: brother, Leo Quaring, and brother-in-law, Art Woods.
