Description	:	The youngest son of Joseph Pierce Jones (b. 1887, d. 1976) and Sara Edna (Williams) Jones (b. 1886, d. 1954). He was born at 213 Main Street Crawfordville, Iowa. Russell had one sibling who lived to adulthood: W. Vernon Jones (b. 1913, d. 2007), he had twin brothers who died in infancy in 1926. Russell graduated from Sac City High School in 1936. He enlisted in the US Army Air Corps in 1942 and went to Officer Candidate School. During World War II Russell achieved the rank of Captain in the US Army Air Corps. He was assigned to the Second Army Air Corps and was stationed at Alamogordo, New Mexico. On July 26, 1944 he was married Beatrice Maxwell (b. 1918, d. 1972) at the USAAC Alamogordo Base Chapel. After World War II he declined a promotion to Colonel and to remain in the service. He worked for the Department of Veteran's Affairs Association & Blue Cross Insurance. He then worked as an educator for the Iowa School System working with mentally handicapped children. An American patriot, educator, loving and devoted husband & uncle.
