| Description | : | He may have been one of the "Sons of Liberty" involved in the Gaspee Affair but is still on the list of possible participants. On August 27, 1777, the Rhode Island Privateer Ship "Oliver Cromwell" under the command of Commander Samuel Chace, Jr. was driven ashore and destroyed by "HMS Sloop Kingfisher", in the Sakonnet River, Rhode Island. During the Battle of Rhode Island 7 August 1778 the "HMS Kingfisher" was burned by its own crew to avoid capture by the Continental Navy.
