Read More	Carl Arnold "Skip" Simmons, Jr. October 5, 1937 - June 23, 2015 Carl Arnold “Skip” Simmons, Jr., 77, of Oakland, MD died Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland. Born October 5, 1937 in Oakland he was the son of the late Carl Simmons, Sr. and Ruth (Arnold) Simmons. He is preceded in death by his wife, Janet Lucille Simmons and an infant sister, Ruby Simmons. Skip worked as a diesel mechanic for Pacific Intermountain Express, Richfield, OH; McNally Construction, KY and Maryland Minerals, Oakland, where he retired from. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He is survived by a son, David M. Simmons, Sr. and wife, Connie, Mt. Lake Park, MD; a daughter, Cheryl L. Bowser and husband, Tom, Grantsville, MD; four grandchildren, Melissa Tasker, Rebecca Yoder, David Simmons, Jr. and Kimmy Heselbach; six great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 1100 Memorial Dr., Oakland on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Friday, June 26, 2015 with Rev. Donald Matthews officiating. Interment will be in the Gnegy Church Cemetery, Oakland. Military honors will be accorded by the various veterans' organizations of Southern Garrett County. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to IDF Garrett Center, 888 Memorial Dr., Oakland, MD 21550 or to the American Cancer Society, 1050 East Industrial Boulevard, Unit 3 Cumberland, MD 21502.
